A first version of the project proposal in the form of eight lists and a table from 1962

Detectiontresholds.jpg

Possible titles:

  • Some Approximate Detection Treshold Values
  • The tick of a watch under quiet conditions at twenty feet
  • Floaters in the eye

Possible final forms:

  • 5 looping projections
    • One for each sense described in the table
    • Based on the detection tresholds described in the table
    • Illustrating those tresholds
    • Or using them as a starting point for a fiction
  • An animated documentary explaining a phenomenon, such as:
    • Floaters in the eye or other entoptic phenomena
    • Persistance of vision
    • Bee perception
  • Possibly containing 'physical' elements:
    • Reflection
    • Shadow
    • Zoetrope-like lo-tech shutter mechanisms
    • Camera obscura image projection techniques

Topics I'd like to explore:

  • Perception, visual predominantly
  • Pre-cinematic devices
