The comparison between Chinese ink painting and Dutch painting from the history and culture aspect. Such as: The abstract gesture/mark appeared in western paintings during 16th~17th century. And in China painting, the "abstract mark" existed hundred years before that. How the landscape appearance effects both this two painting genres? In the Chinese painting theory “The Six principles of Chinese painting”(古画品录) written by art historian Xie He from six centuries, points out the “Spirit Resonance” or vitality is the overall energy of a work of art. And he talks how to judge a painting if it is good through six principles. How does his theory work in Chinese painting and if it would also work on judging western paintings? What is the difference of the construction or the usage of elements between these two system?
