This protocol is based on the field recording collection and artistic sound map project radio aporee. You can listen to an audio introduction of the project here, and read about the project. radio aporee was founded and is run by Berlin/Cologne based artist & media technologist Udo Noll.


gather

  • Go to radio aporee's and select the map interface
  • Starting from a place you know, find a recording that triggers a personal memory
  • download the sound
  • click on Share and copy the link
  • Create a (sub)page on the wiki for the sound, and paste the link
  • Upload the sound to the wiki page.
  • record yourself speaking the "meta data" of the recording from the aporee site
  • record your description of the memory
  • Upload and place these recordings on your wiki page.
  • Place the [[Category:Field recording]] category on your wiki page.

perform

  • View the page Category:Field recording
  • Working alphabetically, select the first recording.
  • Play the original sound.
  • After an appropriate time start playing the metadata recording at the same time. Use the volume control in the audio player to adjust the mix.
  • Once the metadata recording has stopped, and again after an appropriate pause, start playing the memory recording. If the original sound stop playing you may decide to restart it.
  • Once the memory recording has finished, and at your discretion, stop any audio and return to the category page. Select the next item and repeat.
