Voyage of Discovery in Kybernitik Regions undertaken chiefly for the purpose of determining a relationship between unexplored regions of the mind and staircases

September 20 Closest to the shore line and the elevated wooden structure I have made my home the past few months, lies the Starting Port. It is there that we will sail off. Kybernetes, my childhood friend and fearless steersman who has accompanied me on most of the journeys in my mind, arrived to town yesterday evening. We made a small fire down at Sandy Beach, roasted some chestnuts, and gazed at the bright starry sky while we caught up on events and a bottle of strong liquor. Kyb, as most people know him, is an excellent navigator of these vast open waters. His father, and his father before him, stem from a long line of steersmen, who have handed down nautical tools, tales, and trades since, well, before time existed, really. Kyb keeps a detailed map where and which unfortunate souls were fooled by the alluring voices of the Sirens along the rocky edges of many an island way out West. He knows exactly where others have stranded, while trying to find short cuts in narrow alleyways between steep cliffs. Some poor bastards spent the rest of their mortal lives in a closed-off cave trying to find a way out, or entangled in the arms of an extravagant creature who dragged them down to the ocean floor to meet their offspring for an early supper.

September 21 Dawn - Stowed away provisions and cleared the deck. 12noon - Mr. Leerintveld from the Royal Library forwarded a confirming message from Adriaen Coenensz. He is expecting us in Scheveningen to show his latest specimen, the encyclopedic Visboeck that he has been working on since 1577. He just finished page 375, Le Loup Marin, or Sea Wolf, and added detail to Monstrom Leoninum, the Sea Lion. From recent conversations with several fishermen, Coenensz. acquired several creatures that have been sighted near Faraway. He has since added in-depth descriptions of Satyrus Marinus also known as Pan Marinus, the fish tailed, scorpio clawed daemon of the seas. Kybernetes has not seen this volume yet, and has heard from several fishermen that it contains invaluable content for our trip. 15:00 - Received several jars of pickled vegetables from Ms. Kidder. 19:30 - Met up with Eleanor Greenhalgh from Oxford, England. She arrived here a month ago, and stayed at Under/Up the Stairs a few nights. We played Bingo at Bar. She will join us to Scheveningen tomorrow.

Island of Confirmation Before the accomplishment industry colonized the Island of Confirmation, it very much looked like the neighboring island (Bonaire), which continues to live in a state of quiet, pure nature. Confirmation sees so little rain that only dry humor (cacti) and ... dividivi trees can grow here. The northern coast rapidly descends into the ocean. Over the years, the predominantly Northeastern wind has blown the ocean tide against the rocks, and carved out deep caves. The northern coast, also called the Coast of Clarity, is both gruff and impressive. (image p35)

The south side has a much softer nature. The Confirmation Sea is so delightfully bright blue that you would expect the ..... Sea to hide in its depths. Several bays have formed on the southern shore, of which especially the Bay of Hope is crystal clear.

April 5

From 11 till 15 April the first part of 'We've got guests', a research cycle into text, time and the position of the spectator, will take place in Roodkapje.Trickster will develop a daily 4 hours-long performance in dialog with our (unexpected) visitors, everyone is welcome!

Each performance is created from a single score, in which space, time, interaction,text*, available facilities, guests, passersby, objects, happenings and physical/mental impulses are the instruments.

• Source of inspiration is the text "Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf" by Edward Albee.

April 16 15:00 - Performed the customary ceremony in crossing the Equator.

April 17 16:00 - Took a nap in a comfy chair.

April 18 11 - The doorbell rings. I pull the chord that runs along the right-hand wall of the steep staircase. The front door opens a few centimeters. An orange blur behind the glass door mumbles "p--kgh," throws a white envelope into the building, and closes the door again. Excited, as this is hopefully the waterproof outfit a tailor in Ireland made me for the occasion, I run down two flights of stairs. A blue stamp indicates that it is indeed delivered by Royal Mail from Killbride Road, Ballyclare, Ireland. 11:15 - The plumber will be here in 15 minutes to fix a small leak in the back of our vessel.
