"Society in ad-hoc mode: Decentralised, self-organizing, mobile."

Armin Medosch, 2004; Autonomedia.

"Society in ad-hoc mode" provides an interesting perspective on a networked society; self-organizing (configuring), decentralized or otherwise, Medosch examines the possibilities of a "... society capable of inventng and constantly questioning its own rules". Clarifications upon the techno-utopian, in addition to reflections upon technology reforming societies ("... celebrates one triumph after the other, often referred to as "revolutions", in social terms,"). The "Peer-to-Peer" becomes the central idea of Medosch's examination, and whilst doing so identifies the socio-political decisions which create networked societies possible, online and offline; these communities have begun to invent their own technological correspondence and have thus increased the possibilities for both the individual and networked participant(s).
