Ways In and Ways Out

What is it?

A video installation with original music and spoken word. Two lists on the same theme will be used in order to demonstrate how our perceptions of different spaces are driven by underlying events and thoughts.

Why make it?

A profound interest in the workings of the mind, in relation to our actions. To create parallels between the inside and the outside world. It demonstrates how the things that motivate our actions, in this case the desire to know how to get out of a space once you enter it, often have a deeper source than what is immediate to the eye.

Workflow

Write the lists. Create audio. Create video. Edit, combine, re-edit. Presto.

Timetable

Two weeks. Three days writing. Four days composing and editing sound. Three days shooting. Two days video editing. Two days combining and editing as a whole. One day reviewing.

Final product

The finalized work based on the prototype.

Previous practice

Extensive video, sound, and word work.

Relation to a wider context

Projection as a wider theme. The idea that much of what we do is the result of previous experience that works in the background.
