Amber and I met in school when she was 16, I was 17. Together with our friend Freya we started a very intense journey together. Spending our weekends at psytrance parties on an old military boat in Hamburgs harbour and festivals and having first experiences with psychedelics and other stimulants and generally meeting a very different crowd to our suburban Hamburg surrounding. This time gave us a sight into a different world view and influenced and connected us both immensely.

Towards the end of our school time our triangle friendship started crackling and we lost contact for a year, until I heard about Ambers mama getting very sick and passing quickly. I put a letter in her mailbox, she replied, we went for a walk and reconnected. Her father hadn’t been in her life for a while already. Family became a choosen concept for her. So she took her “family”; her boyfriend at the time and Shiva, her dog, bought a house and moved to Hungary, where she hoped to enjoy more freedoms in her alternative ways of living than in Germany. There she became Borostyán, a young woman and house owner who lives the most free life one can imagine. Growing her own produce, constantly educating herself through books and workshops on topics like femininity, regenerative agriculture or herb medicine, trying to become as self-sufficient as possible, starting her day by meditating nude in her own garden. At this point I would call Amber my best friend and chosen sister. I visit her every summer and we frequently call and send each other photos and voice recordings of how our contrasting lifes, but often similar personal developments are evolving.

She challenges and supports me and I her. She inspires me every day and that is what I wish to share with others, showing a quite unusual life path and how Amber views the world.
