Creating new content on the page...

 var newdiv = document.createElement('div');
 document.body.appendChild(newdiv)

Removing stuff is slightly indirect as you have to ask the element's "parent" to remove it's "child":

 var delme = document.getElementById("ads");
 delme.parentNode.removeChild(delme);
