Joint1: 10:00 - start Thematic Project3: Navigating Borders and Contours From Direct Address to Fuzzy Narrators with Tina Bastajian (day2) [lg. project space]

This thematic will interrogate in theory and praxis the mutable contours of cinematic narrative strategies from early cinema, documentary practices, YouTube instructional clips to data driven speculative scenarios. A variety of approaches will be explored such as appropriating and re-positioning the conventions of live narrative “lecturers" or “explicateurs" from the silent era that coalesce with more contemporary practices of what is commonly known as the performance lecture. Interventions within and beyond the moving image archive of the EYE Film Institute Netherlands (newsreels, advertising or instructional film, etc.) will provide an initial platform in which to create short moving image and sound works.
