The Memory-book is an on-going graphical project, paper based, consisting on the collection and assemblage of drawings, editorial and private photography, private documents and messages, used transportation tickets and any other trace of personal activity on a bi-dimensional form. It has an A4 format, landscape, and is kept together by two loose metal rings. 160 g. paper, or heavier, is used as base for the collages. Original writings, posters or flyers on paper of comparable weight are also used as assemblage medium. The project is running at the moment on a third volume.
1. The '''“Regretful Magdalene”''' project comprises a series of graphical experiments that range from illustration to guerilla tactics, graphic and package design. For example, an infographics reflecting about global water shortage is part of this set of experiments, as also is a fake travel agency propaganda booklet advertising the Pacific's Garbage Patch. The subsequent results are then presented in the form of a publication, which reflects on the common aspects that links all these experiments to each other. The materials I used (both on the experiments and their final publication) try to be as environment concerned as possible.

The Spoorhuis is a one layer building occupying an area of 15 meters per 6. It comprises two glass volumes brought together by a skin of concrete and hard wood. One of the volumes has 30m2 and is a resting / service area for bus drivers, the other one is a light display for a poem. The skin is broader than the volumes, generating sheltered space around and in between them for public use. The inner floor surface is 45 cm higher than the pavement outside and its extension beyond the glass pane allows passersby to use it as informal bench.
2.'''“Paradis Artificiels”''' gets its name from the book Baudelaire wrote about drug usage. Working around this concept, I created the artwork for an invented opera. The final result comprises two books which seek to emulate a collector's edition: one is supposed to be the musical score, while the other seeks to represent the opera's program. Both the books have distinct yet related illustrated covers, in which I try to explore complex details through the creation of vectorial patterns. These where then printed in olive green cardboard, whilst the book interior was all printed in recycled paper.

“A sério, não fui eu” is a 16 seconds long stop-motion film, made out 17 frames. Each frame is a hand sketch of a man holding a newspaper and communicating with somebody out of the observer view. The character is taken out of a state of peace by what appears to be an accusation; the sequence of frames show how he tries to explain himself or dismiss any responsibility about something and how he naturally gets back to the original state of tranquility. A fragment of music from a free-jazz quartet, Tetterapadequ, is used as emotional backbone of the sequence.

3.'''“Easter”''' is a series of nine photos which construct a narrative based on Anton Chekov's “The Day Before Easter”. When put together, these photos convey the sense of a route, of a path that somebody takes across a rural landscape in which we can see, every now and then, connections to Christian symbology, like crosses and monuments to the cavalry. The subdued light that is transversal to all of them, as well as the near absence of a human figure holds this series together in a pastel color ambiance.
