Our memory is flawed. We quickly forget most of our experiences. SpaceTime is an attempt at creating a ‘documented life’ by collecting and structuring the data that flows through one of the most intimate devices of our time: the mobile phone. I constructed a system that automatically and continuously captures the data generated by ordinary use of the mobile phone such as audio recordings of calls, sms’s, images, video’s, news headlines, agenda information and the location of the phone in the network. Consequently, this data is uploaded to a database and organized in a framework of space and time coordinates. Thus creating a diary of personal digital traces of everday life.

An idiosyncratic personal memory device and database making an inventive use of mobile phones
