Personal definition

A (weekly and not necessarily self-contained) broadcast live or pre-recorded at Radio WORM, Rotterdam that is uploaded to our own server and the mixcloud site of Radio WORM where it can be streamed online.

The term dates back to 2004 when it was first mentioned by columnist and BBC journalist Ben Hammersley in The Guardian and later that year by Danny Gregoire who introduced it in the iPodder-dev mailing list in an audioblogging community from where it was used by Adam Curry who was later credited for popularizing podcasting and therefore called the Podfather.
