RSS stands for Really-Simple Syndication and is a format for publishing a kind of "table of contents" of resources on a website. Originally used for the mostly textual information blogs, RSS feeds can deliver information about images (from for instance Flickr), and are the technology behind podcasts (audio) and vodcasts (video).
