A patch is a plain text object of 82 characters and 74 lines.
It is saved as a plain text (.txt) file.
Patches are collected in the XPUB git repository "S13-Words-for-the-Future-notebooks", in the folder "patches":

They can be made in various ways:
- by drawing the patch character for character
- by copy/pasting lines together
- by writing loops in python
- by using aalib to create ascii art images
- ...
