Title: Devastated by Love (Toegetakeld door de liefde) Year of release: 2013 Director: Ari Deelder Running time: 90 min

The soundtrack was mixed and produced on a MacPro running ProTools 10 HD. Working close with the production sound and adding ADR / Foley / Effects / Sound Design / Ambient and Music track, to complete the mix. Working close with the director and the music composer to get the best ideas in sound to accompany the picture. After all work is done, the tracks are mixed to a 5.1 Cinema mix and married with the picture. The first two mixes where previewed in Lantaren Venster, after the previews the sound track and image where adjusted for the final DCP (Digital Cinema Package)

This production demanded a soundtrack to accompany the picture. Having only the production sound wouldn’t cut it. Furthermore, there are scenes and music parts that need more attention, they can be made stronger by adding. After all things are completed the soundtrack will enrich the movie.

2# Noizdoos

A slightly tapered wooden box with a copper front plate and knobs in the front. The box contains one switch, three rotary knobs, a light, an output jack and a circuit. The circuit contains resistors and capacitors to form three oscillators. The three oscillators are combined trough three diodes and connected to the jack output. With the three rotary knobs the user is able to influence the frequency of the oscillators. The light will give an indication when the device is turned on or off. The sound coming from the Noizdoos depends on witch one you have in front of you. There are a total of ten versions of the Noizdoos that all have a different sound character. Differencing from bleeps and drones, to noise and percussion type sounds.

I always find joy in fiddling around with instruments. I wanted to give other people the same feeling by designing a circuit that can be versatile in sound. Building a wooden box and designing a nice object to look at was an extra.

3# Boijmans TV season 2

Boijmans is a 12 episode television series made for the Boijmans museum in Rotterdam. Each episode features an artist who has an exhibition in the museum. The episodes are about 15 minutes long. The series has main characters who look at art from their perspective. During the episode the main artist is interviewed and the theme surrounding his work is more explained. A big part of the episodes are the visitors who get a tour and in depth explanation of a painting. These visitors always have something in common. they might be naturalists, have burn scars or be blind.

The Boijmans post-production was done over a total of 13 weeks. In one week one episode was prepared for airing. The sound design consisted of cleaning up the production sound, designing new sounds and the final mix. One episode is about 15 minutes long and the sound production takes one day for one episode.

This production demanded a soundtrack to accompany the picture. Having only the production sound wouldn’t cut it. There are delivery standards for television and the sound mix has to comply with those. Making a television program without sound post-production would not work because the program would be rejected by the broadcasting station. The production sound of Boijmans wasn’t always up to parr so a lot of cleaning and fixing was needed to make the dialogue audible. <source>
