This text describes the custom MIDI device of Robert Henke, the Monodeck II, designed specifically for live performance. Which is another hackable/expandable device due to MIDI!. According to Henke, a Midi controller is a "hardware unit for controlling a computer in a musical way, turning a general problem solving machine into a true musical instrument.

The monodeck II was developed using MIDIBOX hardware modules, developed by Thorsten Klose (www.ucapps.de), and various MAX patches to bridge between Monodeck and Ableton Live. BY assigning a variety of functions to buttons and programming the visual (LED) feedback.
