My thing

My thing in my past years at the Willem de Kooning was mostly designing identities, and very conceptual, simple design.
Most of my projects were described by another person, they were commissioned.

So when the assignment is to do my own thing, I wanted to design an identity, or a logo, for my thing. This logo doesn't have to represent me literally, but can be more conceptual. This idea would;d lead to an endless circle: the assignment is my thing, and I will make an identity for my thing, witch is the assignment and so on. The droste-effect is one way to visualize this kind of endlessness in a photograph or drawing. But I was more looking for an abstract way to visualize endlessness.
Fractals are endless, mathematical forms, witch develop from one big form (most of the time somewhere in the middle). This repeats itself, and gets smaler and multiplies every time.
The logo that developped from these forms:

You can also base the rest of the idenitity on these forms, for example the grid or the way things are ordered in a poster or website.

Something interactive

i wanted to continue with the fractals. There are two simple ways to createw fractals witch include the help of a human. You can use two mirrors, one on each side of your body and you will have endless copies of your reflection. This one is very personal.
The other way is to use a camera and a screen, and display what the camera is filming on the screen. Focus the camera on the screen, and an endless fractal becomes visable. You can move it, and it will make new forms.
