100 word proposal: Adopt A Pixel Project for Trimester 1

Adopt a Pixel will be a website aiming to display an image which has been subject to censorship. Visitors will be presented with an empty grid where the pixels should be, and be invited to 'adopt' one pixel of the image, by clicking on it to download an image with that pixel's colour. They will then be able to post a link to that image file, hosted on their own website, which will display the pixel as an image embedded from their website. As more people adopt the pixels for hosting, the image will gradually appear within the grid. As each individual pixel is innocuous, it should remain un-censored from the individual host's locations.

100 word proposal: Bodybook A larger, end of year project

Bodybook will facilitate the creation of a distributed archive of images censored from Facebook because of their 'bodily' content (nudity, breastfeeding etc). Participants will be invited to contribute images that they have had removed from their pages by Facebook admins, and the Bodybook website will match them with other partipants who are willing to "host" the image for them. Participants will be encouraged to interpret "hosting" in a broad sense: from hosting the image literally on their own server, to physically carrying it with them - provided that the host have bodily guardianship of their chosen image. The Bodybook website will provide an index of this physical archive.
