Hi Nor,

thanks for involving me in the project.

I'll try to answer your questions.

What was it like embedding an image that was always changing?

I had the clear feeling that content on the net is not stable even though it seems to be. Accidentally during these days I stumbled upon this project which I think it's pretty much related: http://www.thequickbrown.com/, a website monitoring all the modifications in news headlines.

Why did you make the changes you did - or didn't?

I made some changes. My attempt was to intervene on the context of the picture through the picture, this was a bit the logic I explored in a recent piece of mine: http://www.silviolorusso.com/quest/ . At first I tried to do that content-wise so I added a "I'm with stupid" picture as if it was the picture itself speaking. Second try was interface-wise: I added a image 1x4000px hoping that it would break the layout or at least affecting it. Then next thing I would have done would have been to put a sticker that supports Romney.

I had fun.

Cheers,

Silvio

Heyyy,

It was so much fun! It's definitely a nice way of interacting with users of the internet.

With the event sharing, I thought it would be a really nice thing to share parties and events with friends using this embedding thing. You don't need to send anyone messages, you just upload the event picture and everyone can see it on their website without having to go anywhere.

I liked photoshopping the images. Although I was the only one doing it, the idea of creating imagery collectively is always interesting. Like Jonas' Paint Shop.

I think it would be interesting to have this on a server where everyone can update. Without having to login to our wiki. (even though it's open) You shouldn't take it down at least!

I also find the way the history is presented very handy. You never miss an update, you can always look back on the updates, and revert to a previous state of the image.

Bad thing about this is that it quickly evolves into teasing each other with immediately uploading a new image seconds after the previous. An idea could be to have a minimal running time after an edit. Idk

Anyways cool stuff!

If you want to talk more I'll hear it.

Dennis

how i found it:

i very much liked the idea, so i was happy to participate.

what it was like:

i enjoyed checking my contact page in order to see whether the image had changed, and to see what the new image was. having forgotten my password for the wiki, i wasn't able to change the image myself. as i did not put it on my frontpage, and because my website serves as a representation of my artistic practice, and not of my freelance/commercial work, i didn't feel like doing sth risky or losing any control. maybe that was my mistake, but yeah, i felt comfortable all the time.

about page:

it would have been too prominent on the frontpage, too confusing on a project's page. which left me with news, about, and contact. i felt like it might be nice for people to find sth really unexpected on my contact page. that's why.

i hope my answers help. very much liked the concept (and the execution). too bad it's already over (didn't know it was limited to one week :(

cheers, sebastian

> What was it like embedding an image that was always changing?

I didn't notice it too be honest. I know it was on my website, but I never checked to see if the image had changed.

> Why did you make the changes you did - or didn't?

I think I didn't change it for the same reason I didn't checked to see if it changed: there was no real reason for me to do so. You asked me for an image, and I gave you a random image of a red panda. And even though people might have changed it, it was still nothing more than a random image on my website. There was no real incentive for me to change it, apart from maybe trying to be funny.
