I am currently reading an essay by Rob Riemen called De eeuwige terugkeer van het fascisme, which means The eternal return of fascism. Rob often refers to philosophy by Thomass Mann and Nietzsche. He talks about the cultural history of fascism and reflects this on today's Dutch society. Not comparing it to past fascism terror, but how it started and it's state of mind. Describing the mind, spirit and behavior of the 'massamens' (literally translated as 'masshuman'). A person without spiritual values, no limitations. He requires no valid arguments to prove he is right, because he just is. He does not take others into account and only his kind matters, everyone else is required to adapt. What is different from him cannot exist.
