With Supi, we attended a workshop by Dasha Ilina. We built a circuit that plays the sound.

Breakfast Club #12 (25-Jan-2023)

With grgr, we built a vernacular-improv-coffee-brewing-tower. Also grgr made a wiki for the crunchy project!!! We read <Wonder> from Dear Science together, thinking of flying cheekbones, crunchy projects and multifarious textures and hues. Later joined by Jian, Suzzana and Aglaia.

The crunchy sounds of cabbages(rubbing cabbage with your hands) are like the sound when you step into the fresh snow.
Barcode / the clumsiness and awkwardness in tools and making your own circuits. 지안이 보여준 프로토타입에서 케이블들을 본인의 손으로 이어, 서킷을 잇는 그 제스처, 그 어색함이 일으키는 어어..? 이게 지금 무슨 일이지? 새로운 시선, 새로운 경험, 다른 방식으로 접근하게 되는 것. 갑자기 나의 몸이 전도체가 되고, 어떤 개념 (예컨대 전류의 흐름)이 체화되어서, embodied experience되는 것.

Nice to hear from M, which parts she found intimate during this muti-channel headphones. She said: "small details made super intimate". Such as...

  1. volum gets smaller since I used the audio splitter. The further you get from the audio input, the smaller it gets, so you need to really focus and try your best to listen
  2. She could understand what was happening tech-wise. You know because of multiple audio splitters, you could listen to the same audio with many ppl.
  3. There is something about one can join with their own earphones or headphones. Unlike the regular-ordinary gallery setting, where you might have a similar setting: one can listen to the same audio file or video file. The possibility/the fact that one can bring their own headphone and plug in, there is something very intimate.
  4. Because of the number 2. one could tweak the connection and have better-quality of audio.

breakfast club #15 (15-feb-2023)

This time, we collaborated with PZI-Archipelago team. This session was open for all masters and a lot of ppl showed up, which was super super nice. I met a lot of people from lens-based and also a few people from fine arts. There was an interesting conversation on the budget cut, since the number of Fine Art students is also only 6. Maybe it would be nice to reach out to them and find ways to help each other.

Small, clumsy, and intimate devices for awkward hybrid settings

Workshop Description:
Wait. How are hybrid settings actually affecting the way we sense others’ presence in public events? How can we bring intimacy when hybrid media interrupt instead of facilitating modes of togetherness? In this three-hour workshop, participants can build their own small, clumsy, and intimate devices to hijack the idea of hybridity. The devices will be physically built to be used during the following ‘plenary closing sessions’, both online and offline.

수피와 함께한 오후

수피가 이야기한 facilitation 이런 것도 facilitation이 돨 수 있다는 것을 새삼 깨달음. 예컨대 not just a fair 오픈콜을 보고 수피에게 마시멜로우와 쿠키를 하면 어떠냐고 제안하는 것. 어떤 맥락, 어떤 상황에 무엇을 제안하면 좋을지 선택하는 능력 수피가 아이싱을 활용하는 것을 어려워할때, 그냥 드로잉한다고 생각해 라고 이야기한 것을 퍼실리테이션으로 받아들였다는 것이 흥미로웠음. diyary - diwoary

엠마 킴벌리와 함께 한 저녁

duality -- formal한 형태의 글쓰기와 feeling을 유발하는 형태의 글쓰기, 봉투 자체를 다시 읽어봤는데, 봉투에 공유된 글들과 드로잉들이 훨씬 친밀하고, 내 개인적인 목소리가 반영된 느낌이었어. 두가지 온도의 목소리. 이 부분은 전혀 생각해보지 못한 부분... 이러한 duality가 인티밋 퍼블리싱이라는 두가지 상반성과 나란히 가는 것이라고 할 수 있을까? 깃털은 잘 모르겠었음. cookie를 주고, 먹게하는 것이 프로젝트에 대해 생각해보는 공간을 마련해주었어. 먹으면서 읽었다는 부분이 재미있었음. 먹음으로써 더 집중하면서 읽고 생각해볼 수 있었다는 것이 재미있었음.
