How did you do it?

It has been hard, as there was no openness from journalism. Trying to keep journalistic methods and use certain art aspects to visualise the journalistic story. Lucky to have two journalism professors that were very interested in it.

Last video she has met up with the girls, gotten to know their environment, go to church, then ask questions without judgement(objective). Answers as in a journalistic interview and then pout together in an artistic practice

What do you want to make next?

2 Things; 1// project on vocal cords with Aitana, focus on discomfort when going to the doctor.

2// Grandmother is a refuge from Hungary. Try to find more family in Hungary and reconnect to that.

Discomfort search through journalism background, when one does not usually go that step further. Don't step away, but let it happen, feel like loosing control. Important to let yourself experience what you don't want to experience. Important to not judge. Which is only possible to put yourself in the situation.

Reflection on last story which felt to distanced from "drug story". Felt very far away. Dive into more perspectives when it is closer to the surrounding and heart.

Let it confront you and teach you.

Tell a story to audience to share a story with openness to interpret. Rather focus on little point which tend to tell more. In journalism the whole story had rot be told, which made the subjectivity get lost and focus on objectivity.

Why do you want to make it?

1/Working with Aitana is a new challenge and also medical field has an unreachable interest. Combining that with vocal cords, which is uncomfortable yet beautiful. A part of the body you use immensely. Use that as a vehicle to dive further into the idea of discomfort with medical aspects.

2/ Not knowing much about grandmother. She sees a specific pain. Grandmother neglected her own Hungarian history. Trying to find the heritage and culture. Grandmother died when Yalou was 5. She fled Hungary in 56.

(M) What have you been making?

She has made a small experimental documentary about a christian family and before this She has always been interested in combining artistic and journalistic field. Interactive installation... and a small documentary about plastic pollution in Rotterdam. How to combine journalism and art.

(M) How?

Combining is hard. Lots of things to be doing in a certain wat. She wants to keep journalistic methods and using other arts aspects to visualize. The story is more journalistic and the presentation "artistic". Example: She made up with the girls, got familiar, went to church... List of questions which were objective questions, this was the journalistic vision, the artistic part came with the editing, more experimental.

(M) Next? The next is that she is working with Aitana in a still very abstract concept working in the medical field, diving into that. Different components: the whole uncomrtable feeling, not being in control with your body, were gonna look at that. The pasts weeks she's been talking with her mom. Grandmother emigrated from Hungary.

(C)Things making you feel uncomfortable, like for example the work with the christian family and also with the physical aspect unconfort with vocal cords? This come from her critical voice from journalism, the things that she has seen, about confronting yourself with something that is more unwon, making you feel not in control because that brings her to the story. Allow yourself experience in a way that may is unexpected, it gives you more reflection points. It is very important to not judge. It is ok to feel frustrated and unconfortable. Is a personal way of doing that things. Reflection on the last journalistic work she worked with, it was too far from her, she really missed important for her. Trying to find subjects which are closer to her and dive into a story let it confront you.

(C) You're looking to be taught or to teach? More journalistic. I don't want to educate people, I want to share in a way that could be open to interpretation.... In journalism the subjectivity goes away, telling the story from the beginning til the end and she feels more connected with mo

(M) Why do you wanna make it? About vocal cords. New, challenging working with Aitana. Just the medical field has something interesting and unreachable and combining that with the visual of the vocal cords, but very beautiful and interesting, an element you use the most, Using that as an opening to much more elements in the medical field. About the grandmother, she doesn't know a lot about that. She sees a certain pain when she talks about that and her mum really rejected this heritage and there is something that is interested for her. It is not developed at all.
