What is it?

A film in which the protagonist has an objective, and is willing to make sacrifices to get to that objective. The sacrifices are costly. The protagonist is willing to give up their physical and mental wellbeing in order to achieve this ambitious goal. The journey is riddled with angst and frustration, the self inflicted pressure is working against the protagonist. Their self worth is deeply tied to the outcome and they are extremely tunnel visioned. The pressure is unbearable, and the protagonist is constantly treading the fine line of ambitious effort and self sabotage.

Why make it?

I am fascinated by what drives people and drive / effort as its own form of escapism. Drive as a contrasting phenomenon through which people can negotiate neglect and lack of responsibility for other things that are important in life. And yet, no matter how self destructive, I can't help but be inspired by the effort and hard work people put into their goals. When tennis players break their rackets on live television, it shows how much they care about their goals and at the same time their inability to contain their emotions and stay focused and thus potentially nullifying their work. And here in lies the conflict, is it possible to deeply care about something and the care not be overwhelming?

Workflow

The film follows a narrative structure, so the first steps are identifying the objective and the transformations. Scenes to showcase the sacrifice and tunnel vision and how deeply the outcomes are tied into protagonists self worth. Discovering the object through which the story is told. Filming and editing.
