thoughts on own essay

creating my own icons and symbols out of human and animal bodies. assigning historically associated values of the object to the images and invent new magical powers in regard to their role as media images

I want to appropriate the ideas of the Esotericists in combination with my own character and fictional characters. Repeated imagery of the cow and goat I want to create my own world of characters to use as the subjects in my own brand of mythological story telling. I want to incorporate the style of story telling used in magical ritual, and the dark satirical fictions told by writers such as George Saunders Invention of my own magical tradition using digital images and the permutation of images through out the web (in theory) viral image spreading and the effect that their magical quality has on the viewer

    • interesting to note that the Golden Dawn was a heirarchical organization, but admitted woman equally with men

esoteric studies or placing your work with in the realm of esotericism allows the work to be viewed with a much less restrictive set of rules. things will not be constrained by the common modes of morals and cultural formalities, because the rules of the esoteric are the absence of rule. the content is expected to be indigestible to the mainstream, and revelatory to those who can open their mind to see the unseen, the unexpected, and the obscene.

The work has to become more discomforting, more violent. I don't really want this, but other wise it will mimic fanstasy invented for children, and won't have the supernatural horror quality. it will be like fantasia. but fantasia was scary when they had the big horned monster leading the goats to dance around on his hand....

mmm

esoteric studies, these works essentially validadte the capacity of the imagination to access god, magic, and the secrets of the universe. it elevates and validates these thoughts by the position of these thinkers. their position is that anything that can be felt is real, and this kind of thinking could be a liberation for the rigid cultural rules that we face as a society

anything we can make can become real validation is not required and the spread of the information only further embeds it into the common culture and working with images, specifically images on the web, allows this spread to happen faster, and to root itself deeper in the culture because of our current relationship with images. working as a photographer, photography is a fiction, but if I am to work in this way where the subjects of the images themselves are intended to spread a myth, photography can become a esoteric truth

basically, you can make anything a mythical truth if you say you got it from an angle, or spirit. i could make a satirical work that is based on my own claims that i was told in a dream by a talking cow that blahblah and ….
