Dorothy:What have I done
what have I done?
(eye, photobook, camera workshop, self-directed work, other…: what, how and why in each case)
What did I learn?
- Making certain technical choices (i.e. Lens, camera, and other equipment) according to the work, resources and environment
- Histories of camera, lens, editing and photobook; and how these influenced the way we work now
- Taking writing as a way to think and reflect the works
- Software skills etc.
What do I want to do next?
- More experiments on how text/ ways to arrange text can work with still or moving images
- Making one essay-film for the EYE project
- Learning some more concepts (and skill) on working with moving images
In order to do the next thing:
What do I know already?
- Techniques on writing a script (at least on fictional narrative), and on writing poetry – working with text
- Some basic facts about the theme of my project (i.e. repurposed prison in the NL)
What do I need to find out?
- How to edit footages and so they would produce certain meanings (to work with the text)
- How to use sound
- More techniques on how each kind of shot would make certain effects on audience
How do I find out what I need to know?
- Watch interview of editors on youtube, or read about their working process
- Concepts on how and where to cut
- Learn forming a narrative with images (still or moving)
Who can help me?
- People with editing experience
- Sound artist
What’s the minimal to tell a story
How to provide ‘space’ and also ‘hints’ for audience to actively read the work
