Reader one FEMINIST DISCOURSE: PATRIARCHAL GAZE IN VISUAL CULTURE
Outline:
(Elysa, Jacob, Jelle, Kamali & Thy) Each of us want to read upon a different book/article about feminism and photography & cinema. After we've read it, we produce a conclusion which we use to reflect on a specific media outlet (like a movie, a photo series etc.), Then we combine our analyses to make a zine. The theme of our zine is 'The patriarchal gaze in visual culture'. The idea of the zine resonates with the activist feminist angle and is appealing and easy to spread.

Reader two (Sontag)
We are doing a reader about the reciprocal influence between images and society examined in the 3 books written by Susan Sontag. It will have an introduction, why choose the book. We will pick up a paragraph from each book, and will discuss about it and annotate it. We will approach it from a postmodern perspective, hence it will not be an academic or formal reader, but rather an interactive experiential reading. We will involve Sontag’s text through intro, thesis, conclusion(?). We will treat Susan Sontag’s writing as a guide (cicerone) for our readers. We also plan on using other relevant writing, images, poem, rap lyrics as well as different languages to engage with the text. We will also talk about our own work or other works we find relevant to the text.
Reader Three (Neo-cyber po-mos or Interconnectivity [working title])
Outline:
Group Members: Anh, Yael, Chen, YuChing, Bojan
Our group has identified keywords that connect our readings and we will use these keywords as a method to relate to each other’s writings. Our Reader will be on size A2, folded to size A4 per page with 8 pages in total. The Reader will be loosely bounded to open up two posters: one with a mindmap of images, one of text.
