The Air Addiction project

What

This project demonstrates three stages in which we can see the mental and physical reactions of people based on the length of time they have been exposed to the smog. Will it ever come so far that one day fresh air will become drugs, which makes people go crazy or even violent?

How

I interviewed people from different cities in China where the severity of smog is diverse. The script is based on the outcome of the interviews which contains the three stages of how smog affects the lives of people. Eventually, three videos were shot indoors and outdoors during the worst air conditions in 1 month.

Why

The smog is an enemy which is too strong to fight against. Many people gave up the fighting and eventually came to accept it. However, people need to be warned about the horrible effects the smog has on our lives. The smog, as a quiet disaster, should never be ignored.

The intervention exhibition

What

This is a conversation between modern forms of art and design and Chinese traditional culture. The purpose of recreating the traditional art by young generations is to further and optimize their lives. The exhibition contains different styles of artworks which include oil painting, performance art, Sculpture, and animation, etc.

How

I had a tour in Taiwan about Taiwanese art and design. What impressed me the most there is the combination of modern art and Chinese traditional culture. I posted videos and article about the recreations on social media which became a popular topic in the mainland China. Therefore, I decided to invite young artists and designers in mainland China to do their own projects about recreations of Chinese traditional art. I received more than 100 pieces of works in 2 months and picked up most outstanding 20 works to do the exhibition in Tianjin China.

Why

With the rapid development of the society, the young generation focuses more on contemporary life than traditional culture, which is fading and disappearing. Because of this development, I felt the need to attract the attention of young people.
