a tab causes a kind of shift as well, images fill your vision and your perception of spacetime is altered.

Say your prayers, little one Don't forget, my son To include everyone Tuck you in, warm within Keep you free from sin 'Til the sandman, he comes Sleep with one eye open Gripping your pillow tight Exit light Enter night Take my hand We're off to never-never land

a shift is a unit of time especially one that is sold by an individual. also to shift the face off someone, to kiss, the face of my shift key has worn down from our constant interactions. has my left little finger worn down too in the same way? are they both ok with this change from their constant impacts, i think so, its a slow violence but also a love.

control is a cybernetic idea that i dont really want to work with. although i like the original etymology of cybernetics: its to do with steering a vessel. what if this key was more about surfing, pointing your board closer to the direction you want to go. if the interaction is between bodies of water like when the tide comes the whole way up the river is rotterdam a coastal city.
