Art and media work within physical restrictions

Use of a box-template as medium, enclosure and object of trade for art and media work The box has a standard size for easy transportation: hand luggage restrictions? In wood? How to get it?

Objects: 100 - 150 boxes

Content:

Eleven to fifteen boxes displaying our work and work of fellow students: we should mix them up with loads of empty ones in order to have enough to structure a wall. The content of the boxes should be visible from the front or back. This wall would be the core of the exhibition and would to be there for 6 days.

Projector permanently displaying images of containers, standard parts, mechanic labor, and mechanical craft: everything we can find that has to do with repetition, production and hand labor. We could also mix it up with the documentation pictures of our box building process. Or we can find a film to display that would mechanically stress people out. Or we could use it as platform to display themes that we want to bring about (which ones and how?)

Short manifesto about the exhibition and make it available in flyer mode. We could make a floor plan for the exhibition with wide tape and organize informal seating places with other stacked boxes.

In one side of the space about 50 other boxes would be stacked for public use and to be added up to the wall after getting filled with art work or goods (!). The problem is that we should provide the public with materials to do this. Shall we have containers with queen’s day kind of material? Shall we just invite a small selection of people to come along on purpose to do this? Giving them a chance to exhibit their work on the stacked wall?

In the last day we would have lectures in the evening (by whom?) and we would do an auction. Or, people that did put a box there could trade it with any other.
