Borrowing the working title from the 2007 conference dedicated to the "Perspectives on Intellectual Property", I want to look into a variety of entities involved in global data market, including bandwidth providers, data carriers (ISP), media websites (YouTube, Soundcloud), cyberlockers (Megaupload), private torrent sites (KaraGarga, What.cd), CD/DVD copy market, IP defense industry (MediaDefender), and rights management companies (RIAA, MPAA). Where do people behind these companies come from, what do they believe in? Explore the libertarian and conservative perspectives on copyright and anti-copyright. What are the building blocks of data geopolitics?
