Project description: NR. 39 met Rijst

A combination and interaction of video works and sculptures centered around Culture, Identity and displacement covered in/with a layer of food.

The work started after a comment made by a Dutch jury member of Holland Got Talent towards a Chinese contestant. The project migrated to the point that the work is reflecting my personal surrounding and connection to my Chinese roots depicting my struggle, bond and affection with my parents covered underneath a sauce of delicious food.

Specs of the works & technical requirements (equipment)

• 3 video works (A, B, C) ---> possibility to extend to max. 5.
• 3 sculptures (D) ---> possibility to extend to max. 5.
• Picture + Menucard (E)

• A: Square monitor (4:3), media player, sound (e.g. boxes), peddle stool (same size monitor).

• B: 3x Square monitor (4:3), 3 media player, sound (e.g. boxes), peddle stool that can carry the 3 monitors, peddle stool extend the width of the 3 monitors.

• C: Square monitor (4:3), media player, sound (e.g. boxes), table and 2 benches.

• D: 3 peddle stools, 3 foot (30 degrees, to support sculptures).

• E: Lightbox, foot for lightbox with angle, low peddle stool/table.

NOTES Andre:

• VGA to/converter to BNC
• Matrox-splitter ---> to synch, 3 mediaboxes won't work
