Written letter correspondence exists in a paradox: It still serves as the general model for media and communication while (seemingly) becoming obsoleted by electronic technology. When people talk about media and the arts, letters are rarely mentioned or reflected despite a rich history of letter writing as an art form, from 18th century correspondence novels to 20th century Mail Art and next-level 21st century practices.
