'Photobook Workshop

I made a hardback clothbound photo book of my project ‘A State’. This photo project is something have been working on sporadically for around 5 years, I did a rework of the content of the work for this directive.

A State is an allegorical journey through a fictional society. The narrative begins in a utopia that slowly descends into a dystopia. The project charts how lived and witnessed experiences alter perception and consciousness through abstract images alongside confrontational socio-political actions. The work makes use of multiple approaches to image making, challenging expected photographic genres through the juxtaposition of formal and informal images.

The production of the book was a good learning process for me as I finally learnt how to manufacture a hardback classic style photo book. The book was 70 pages, hardback clothbound colour and black and white images, perfect bound.

I’m going to continue working on this book over the year.
