<!---CASUAL WDKA GRADING STRIKE ANNOUNCEMENT
With a two year difference, in February 2021 and February 2023, two reports have proven WdKA’s persistent inner problems. The O4i Report “We Have to Change” and the Social Safety Report “Student wellbeing starts with staff wellbeing” have addressed inequalities, structural overwork, lack of EDI framework, lack of safety, lack of transparency, and lack of accountability from the side of management. The past few months we have been subjected to increased precarity and insecurity, due to temporary contract teachers being discontinued; thus losing expertise and diversity in our teams. Simultaneously, we experienced increasing social unsafety and anxiety on the part of the permanently contracted teachers, who are left with a drastic reduction of teaching and preparation hours, to respond to a substantial increase of stress and labour as a result of having to replace the discontinued teachers. All of which will severely impact the quality of education in the future..
In the face of this increased insecurity and work pressure, EMT insists on performing business as usual and dismissing the situation and our voices by:
Bypassing consent and ignoring advice from PMRs in the case of cuts to education hours and preparation/aftercare hours;
Refusing to acknowledge intimidation and social unsafety;
Not renewing contracts of teachers based on unclear criteria and not according to EDI  protocol;
Denying the fact that there is sufficient evidence of mismanagement in the budgets, PTDs, unpaid hours and the school at large.
Management has been disregarding the plethora of letters of discontent with the education cuts (IMR, OC, Petition of No consent, Petition Letter to Management, student letters) and have shown a total lack of accountability for their actions that led to overspending in the past few years. Following similar actions in universities across the Netherlands (see actions in University of Amsterdam), Casual WdKA is facilitating a grading strike action in 1.3 and 2.3 blocks by withholding the grades meaning that work is still being done, but grades are not input into the system.
What is our aim?
We perform a grading strike, and while we do perform assessment and grading, we withhold grades for 1.3 and 2.3. To reduce impact on students, all teaching tasks will be continued. Note: We stipulate
