(Reijnders, 2002, AMC Magazine) ---> www.desireepalmen.nl/portretnl.php
exploit points of view which are induced by the location of the surveillance cameras.
the difference between palmen and bolin is that bolin uses hiw own body as a canvas whereas palmen makes other people dissolve or disappear into their surroundings (bored panda - Amazing camouflage art by desiree palmen- by lina D.)
her pieces are based around the idea of camouflage, the act of being unseen and undetected. To create the site specific suits palmen photographs a precise location. She then paints the image of the place onto a suit by hand. A person then wears the finished suit and poses in the original location - trying to blend into the space as  much as possible. (designboom - camouflage art by desiree palmen, 2008)
Camouflage is a key motif in her work through which she explores the notions of where we, in our bodies, are seen or no longer seen. For camouflage we need/requirre a physical body, but her work is not concerned solely with the physical body. Camouflage purpose is to draw our attention to other ways in which not being detected might be important for the individual. In palmen's work camouflage becomes a metaphor for raising questions about the relationship between the individual and the environments in which they exist; physical, social and political. Try to make the body disappear in public spaces from the vantage points of various apparatus used to detect and record the presence of humans. Beneath the layer of simple trick, we are drwn to thinking about the nature of visibility and invisibility in such urban settings. (ken pratt, 2007, showroom mama)
'''NOTES: Bolin'''
his works combines performance art, photography and protest. himself paint, fade into the backdrop of a photographed scene. To create his works, Liu often chooses sites replete with symbols of China's Cultural revolution, or suggestive of the immense changes in the country since the fall of Mao Zedong's regime.
According to the artist, his Camoflage works are metaphors for the feeling of anonymity and ostracism he encounters as a Contemporary artist in China. After Chinese officials shut down his studio in 2005, his work became even more overtly political, in what the artist calls “a silent protest… a protest against the state.” (http://www.artnet.com/artists/liu-bolin/biography)
TED: Liu Bolin - de onzichtbare man

'''NOTES: Maria Zendrera'''
* ads on marktplaats
* description of secondhand product and 3 photos with a (semi) naked woman.
* sex sells (used in ads to draw attention to a particular product - branding - transfer of sex to product)
* stereotyping, roles and beauty standards
* objectification of the body can out women/men under a lot of stress because of the high expectations - physically (how a perfect body should look)
* use of marktplaats: because companies are not there and so the image culture of stereotyping the body. Because of that individuals put less effort in marketing, decorating the product and lifestyle surrounding the brand. Therefor the photos of the products on marktplaats are much more honest and homemade.
