I would like to have  a space that is more the know "White cube/ gallery space", i think my work will be presented there best.
Also a space which already has an established name which will reflect on my work is a pre but not a must.
I prefer a space in Rotterdam over somewhere else (except maybe the hague due to budgetary reasons (it will cost money to rent vans and to go up and down to another city) and practical reasons, I am thinking of building an installation and want to have the materials for that at hand.
For spaces I quite like the Las Palmas location (even though out of the centre).
The Boijmans ground level space with windows also seems a good option (next to the library, not the small one inside). Or maybe the space in the first floor where a lot of temporary exhibitions are held;
I'm not a fan of v2 unless described as above by joseph

Notes from Meeting 30/09/2014

  • 95% sure PZI show wont be happening at TENT
  • Money issues, TENT don't want to host PZI shows anymore. Simon does agree its the best venue in RDAM and says it would be hypercritical for him to say otherwise.
  • Suggests v2 offers good publication support for catalogue. Because we would save money on venue.
  • 5-day festival option.
  • Wants to form a contingent with all PZI departments (Fine art/ Media/ MIAD/ Education in Arts) and hire a place like LP2.
  • Suggests having a shorter show to bring in more people longer duration doesn't necessarily mean more visitors.
  • we have told him our priorities of venues (including w139/ Amsterdam) he wants that that in email.
  • Advertising & Marketing - work out what the hook is of your project? who would want to write about it and why?
  • Make a list of newspapers, media outlet places that students want to get their work promoted.
  • Press copy is the contingency of joining all the pathways to get more press for the show. We will get more press by joining forces with all pathways.
  • How to curate a grad show, its not thematic exhibition. Our pathways would not be blurred we would be distinct from other PZI pathways.
  • Curating is retro-engineered and it will always look like a grad show.
  • (Simon) If we were going to go Amsterdam it would have to be somewhere big.
  • Simon's top priority is not hiring a space without technical support.
  • post office on coolsingle is an option. - research budget questions.
  • Right now its more about having a series of strategies but the final decision is going to be made by Renee Turner, Director.
  • Think about duration of show, how you would like to publicise (a list of media outlets you would like your work to be published) and a list of locations you would be happy to show work at.
  • Everybody to write their top locations and a list of journalists in their work into this thread and we will send to SM.

Max

  • Locations - Empty space must be in busy central location. happy to do big group show with all pathways as it would bring more people. Would prefer New institute than Lp2, Willhelminapier is far to travel. Anti doing Worm v2 crossover.
  • Publicity - weownrotterdam, Dis Magazine, The Guardian (UK), NRC (NL) INC, creativeapplications.net,

Joseph

  • Locations:
    • Empty space must be in busy central location
    • v2/worm/mama: is fine with a v2/worm-crossover and a third space(something like a white cube - mama) - v2 is good for workshops, worm for film/performances but both spaces are not the best place for a exhibition
  • Publicity:
    • depends on gradution project, but of course perfect is a mixture between public reaction and professionell art reception :)
