Joint1: Thematic seminar 10:00 - 13:00 14:30 -18:00 Rotterdamse Schouwburg with Lena Newton workshop / master class in connection with the performances of Warum Läuft Herr R. Amok?. It would be open for students and anyone who is interested in hearing more about the production, its design and video components. I especially want to talk about the role of video on stage (examining 'the relationship between moving images and live performances'). The starting point is my work with theatre-director Susanne Kennedy’s on both Warum Läuft Herr R. Amok? and Fegefeuer in Ingolstadt (both having their premiere at Münchner Kammerspiele). I want to explore with the group how other designers / directors deal with video and film and the specific consequences of their approaches for their work. This would provide an overview from Robert Lepage to Bert Neumann, etc. Moreover, I also want to discuss recent work that does not use video but is particularly concerned with the phenomenon of film. I am thinking for example of work such as How Did I Die of the young Dutch director Davy Pieters. As a next step, I believe it would be rewarding to discuss the participants’ own concepts and approaches, both in terms of the ideas they raise and also with regard to the technical problems and possibilities. This might possibly be done in cooperation with two video technicians that I have worked with, Daan Hazendonk and Ikenna David Okegwo.
