14-03-07 What the frogs eye tells the brain

Frogs do not move their eyes unless the body changes position these are composotary eyemovements. The sex life is conducted by sound and touch. Three sorts of receptive field: on – on/off – off Spot of light on “on” cell and discharge begins. “on/off” discharge is short in both cases “off” discharge begins immediatly

Three sorts of function for any visual event – the “on/off” channel tells where boundaries of light areas are moving. “off” channel how a ranch dimming of light has occured and where. The “on” where brightness has occured.

Every point of the retina gives rise to a blur about the size of a receptive field. The “off” channel then tells where the blurred image is darkened and the “on” where it is brightened. The “on/off” registers moving images.
