The number 42 in the Neapolitan Smorfia is represented by coffee. Coffee is a drink that is obtained by grinding the seeds of some species of small tropical trees belonging to the genus Coffea. The Arabic word qahwa (قهوة), originally, identified a drink produced from the juice extracted from some seeds that was consumed as a dark red liquid, which, drunk, caused exciting and stimulating effects, so much so that it was also used as a medicine. Today this word indicates, in Arabic, precisely coffee. From the term qahwa it passed to the Turkish word kahve through a progressive narrowing of meaning, a word reported in Italian with coffee. This derivation is disputed by those who claim that the term coffee derives from the name of the region where this plant was most widespread in the wild, Caffa, in south-western Ethiopia. A legend has as its protagonist the prophet Muhammad who, feeling sick, one day had a vision of the Archangel Gabriel who offered him a black potion (like the Holy Stone of Mecca) created by Allah, which allowed him to recover and return in strength. Dreaming of coffee can have many meanings, feeling even just the scent represents the search for something from which to draw the mental energy necessary to carry out a project, but also realizing that you feel an attraction for a person or have a good chance of increasing the finances available.

The number 66 in the Neapolitan grimace is represented by the spinsters. The spinster is a single woman of advanced age; mostly with an idea of withered femininity and a bitchy mood. This term was used in the past, but today the much more politically correct term single is used.
In the past, not finding a husband and therefore becoming a spinster was a real calamity. For some, not getting married was due to particular causes such as raising a brother or looking after a sick parent, while for others it was their own will or the fact of not finding the right man.
In current usage the term spinster refers only, and mostly in a joking or derogatory tone, to unmarried women a little advanced in years.
