This book claims that visual perception is a cognitive activity and that artistic activity is a form of reasoning. It understands perceiving and thinking as indivisibly intertwined (artists think with their senses). The way our senses understand the environment is the same as the operation of thinking works. -> Rudolf Arnheim claims that productive thinking takes place in the realm of imagery. According to him the problem is that a split has taken place between senses and thoughts. This book is specialized on the sense of sight and is grounded on earlier works such as "Art and visual perception" and "Toward a psychology of art" which deals with the psychology of perception.
