Concepts behind glitch

  1. Obviousness of the digital medium
  2. Randomness
  3. Tension between reduction and excess [1]
  4. Tension between reification and critique [2]
  5. Tension between function an failure [3]
  6. The more intensified a technical system, the more error and breakdown figure as potent metaphors of dysfunction and anti- communication in material critiques of the media. Thus a paradox lies at the heart of the electronic glitch: the more one attempts to control, to functionalize culture through new technologies, the more does one also proliferate glitches and errors. Reflections

The glitched images I have been making, are made by changing the code of the image as if it was text. Therefore, when the image is decompressed, it looks different. This is not a glitch in the technology. However, it is a glitch in the aesthetic of the image.

Kinds of glitch

Here I am trying to detect different kind of Glitches:

  1. Technical glitch
  2. Aesthetic glitch
  3. Conceptual glitch
