- Practise
1. photography practise
photos
2. beamer test
- Learning coding stuff
- HTML/CSS
- Python (pygame[1]/opencv[2]) (I still have a loooooong way to go with all the coding stuff (especially code-based visual tools/softwares), then I will know what I want to do with them.)
2.What do you want it to be?
- Small Drops of Someone
It is an experimental short which shows a process of one's growth by a series of abstract images/scenes.
Storyboard for Small Drops of Someone (To be continued...)
- I AM NOT
I AM NOT contains portraits and photos I shot/will shoot for people with Ricoh XR-P camera and Ilford B&W films .
3.How do you plan to make it?
Small Drops of Someone
Think Shoot Edit Done
I AM NOT is a portraits photobook series which is a long-term portrait project.
In my plan, I would like to make a new book once a season/a half year to record the people I shoot during the period.
4.Why do you want to make it?
Short: Small Drops of Someone
In Chinese, one of the most beautiful word in my mind is 涓滴( juan di : little drops of water) which we seldom use in daily life.
From my experience, memories are combined with only some little broken fragments just like little drops of water gently rush to the sea, so I would like to glue those little things in an abstract form, present a process of someone's growth, and try to tell people "see, nothing happened at all."(NB: Be cool!)
I AM NOT
About more than 20 years ago, my father bought the camera (Ricoh XR-P) which cost him a whole year salary. When I was in my high school, my father gave it to me. From then on, I started to take photos with it, until now.
It is very interesting that the photos which are taken by this camera always seem like they have already be taken from decades ago, and what's more, only me and my father can focus correctlyƪ(•̃͡ε•̃͡)∫ʃ. The camera for me is just like a time-machine, which is a connection between the past and today/future. In this year, I turn to take portraits, when I saw the pictures, I found that I could not say the people on the pictures were the people I really took photos for. What I feel is the people in the picture, they do not belong to any time, no past, no future, no today, no emotions, no feelings, they are not them and they are not us.
Few years ago, when I made the documentary for Ren Hang, I felt the feeling of NO MEANING. Even though, I do not agree with his photography method, I 100% agree with this idea.

Everything in this world has no meaning, it is PEOPLE who defined them. I would like to define this work as no meaning at all, just some people from somewhere in sometime.

5.Who can help you and how?
Tutors!
Classmates!
and Friends!
And, anyone who are interested in my project or want to practise strategies, explore technics together with me.
What's more, I need more and more and more models for my photobook projects.
