semantics:
lexicology → focus on words as symbols, their meaning, their etymology, and their construction from morphemes and phonemes
syntactics → focus on words as they relate to each other/are structured in a sentence
pragmatics → focus on how meaning of words is always produced in a certain context
etymology → focus on the history of words
