Robert Ochshorn's talk:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2Wwa8zewDbc

Timelines:
- taking their timelines, match the size of timeline with the size of video frames.
- half image every two and half seconds, and you can scroll to choose which half image you want to view
- when you go all the way to the edge = one pixel for every frame
- combine the image, iconic representation what holds meaning in this video and the graph.. to some certain points the images become graph
- Slit-scan photography->video slicing->images to graph (continuity)

Media archive:
Montage Interdit:
- web video project, a documentary directed by Sivan, where all of the films by Jean-Luc Godard werer put into this archive and annotated by human editor with tags like Africa, Algeria, anti-semitism and Christianity.
- additional layer: interviews made by various scholars moving through the archive and commenting on it
- “zoom in” interface -> look at whole archive
- continuity
- when you click a link, it doesn’t break the context
archive can be media transitional project

Periphery
- math for image stabiliser, one frame is mapped onto the previous frame

A book interface:
- canonical single view and not wrapping everything in metadata and about having a very low cost to browse and click and navigate
- organisational thread by which to move through

  • check wikipedia/ create a page

Audio interface:
- million songs, have only audio as interface
- the single unit of audio is a frame, and this move very quickly. there are 44k/s of them…
- take million data points of audio and play 30 seconds
- moving through the index, hit the space key to play it.

when you have huge amount of things, sometimes it’s simply impossible to make interface to all of it that really allows full navigation and discovery and without being completely random.
