Taxonomy Of Drone Patches && The Dronespeak Lexicon

In collaboration with Dave Young.

Taxonomy Of Drone Patches

The Taxonomy of Drone Patches is a five minute video-loop that builds upon earlier Telewar research. This video focusses on how military UAV technology represents itself by investigating the military insignia worn by UAV operators. From it emerges a picture opposed to the official representation of drones by industry and military that focusses on a drone's efficiency, humanity, control and precision.

The Drone Speak Lexicon

Taking the alphabet as a point of departure The Drone Speak Lexicon is a 8 minute video-loop that examines the military vernacular surrounding drone warfare as a part of the Global War on Terror. It is intended as both as a tool to explain the concepts behind drone warfare to the viewer but also as a work to critique those concepts.

INSERT DELETE SELECT UPDATE for Less Is More, More Or Less @ Tent Rotterdam

Lessismore klein.png

A commission for Tent's one day symposium on collections of art in public space. Tent asked multiple young artists to come up with a standpoint on the collection of public art. We wrote a text loosely based on Jos de Mul's | The Work Of Art In The Age Of Digital Recombination in it we described how a collection only has to basic operations (to add, or to remove) and how this causes trouble when faced with budget cuts. Considering the works rather as a database allows for two more operations (select, or update). This would allow the collection to be reconsidered or remixed in ways that are otherwise not possible.

The text was displayed as an open and editable word document.
