Andre Castro (1983) is a sound artist from Lisbon. His practice often involves DIY, exploratory, and nonsense strategies in order to appropriate found media-objects, such as audio-tracks from a colossal online archive in Radio Liberté Égalité Beyoncé, the whispers and silences of radiophonic discourse in Radio Fragments, or the stories told over spam emails in Narratives of Deception.

Narratives of Deception takes spam emails away from the computer screen and brings them to life in a stage piece.
In a synchronized form of story-telling three performers let us experience the wild and hilarious dramas of four spam personas, and invite us to observe the networked and appropriative processes which go on to the creation of these narratives.
The interpreted emails are a courtesy of Miss Kones, the daughter of a Kenyan minister; The American soldier who captured Osama bin Laden; A sick, rich, and religious widow who writes from her hospital bed; And a banker who comes across unclaimed fortunes from famous clients. All of them ask for our help, let's give them a hand!
