By dEFINITION/ DESCRIPTION

I found myself interested in the idea of digital information - metadata of images I have been making presented, stored and then destroyed. Or mapping the invisible - showing the lost of information in visual matter. What have triggered my attention to consider the glitch as an media object is the temporarily of the image - the ephemerally of the code behind seen as a budge of lines of numbers, letters and symbols. So called data moshing, data bending, image hacking and glitch are all classified as Glitch art connected to errors or disrupted, corrupted, malfunction, anomaly, noise of the transmitting or receiving digital or analog signal. I would like to question two aspects in glitch as a media object or why and how is considered to be a form of new media aesthetics - fetishisation of technology created and consumed? Why remains something relevantly old in terms how has been used as an expanded noise - disturbed signal and on the other hand the practice and social context of the contemporary glitch scene? The theory that glitch art is connected to the retro aesthetics or time of 80s and 90s when the home computer imperfection was a considerable and visible fact. Some may argue what is the main purpose matter of visual distortion or appropriation in the glitch practices? Moreover is it just a tweaking visual characteristics or it could convey a certain context?

MEDIA/ poSSible OUTCOME

"First you have to understand the system and why you are breaking it then you will know what are your tools and then you could play with it."
First try on--> play with the format - jpg - into bmp (outcome: some stills and gifs)

• command line - no control on the glitches (used found footage )
  
• Processing Glitch library --> glitching already existing video(the bridge) could modify certain parameters but no control on the speed and colors
• pd (unexacting result of workshop at Worm )
  
• Hacking VGA signal with Arduino (Mr Stock'S workshop_session_1)
• a html page - or wiki page of visual glitch of my researches, observations and experments---> deadline for EMO(Encyclopedia for Media Objects) first draft on 10th of March
