MY ESSAY:

Focus questions:

- Why does an e-pub have a codex system?
- What type of navigation system will work better for a e-pub?

For my second essay I want to focus on the way books are bounded, and the history behind them. From there on out I want to move into the internet world and explain how the navigation systems work on there, and what types of things interaction designers must keep in mind when designing the skeleton of a website. Than I am going to explain the new +mag and how the designers designed the navigation tools for that, and how it completely differs from a standard codex magazine. Than I am going to focus on the e-pub, how it still works as a codex and the problems it faces because of this and solutions that will make it better.

MY PRACTICAL ASSIGNMENT:

In my practical assignment I am going to design my essay into an epub book using a unique navigation system that I will develop. When reading a book on a epub reader it is not clear how many pages are still to come, it is not clear how many pages already have been read, and the book can only be read like a simple codex. I want to change this and completely redesign the entire epub design with a new way of navigating through the book.
