The Guttenberg Galaxy

Guttenberg glaxy book mainly focuses on mass media and the affects on the society. The book calls the whole
users and the mass media as global village. Global village is working like a network which is feeding and
controlling the society with information mediums. The book describes the past information systems and makes
predictions about the future electronic mass medias. He separates the history in to four ages. The first age is
the Oral tribe culture which the informations are being shared among the people with poems, songs, stories
without writing them. The second age is the Manuscript culture where people starts to read and write. The third
age is the Gutenberg culture where the sharing starts with the printing techniques. The fourth age is the
electronic age culture which people can share information with electronic machines.

The book was published in 1962 but it is making predictions to internet and the structure of it which makes
it very interesting.
