Bio | Jingfeng Shen (b. 1992, CN) is an artist working primarily with photography and film. His photographic practice investigates mechanisms of viewing and the condition of individuals in contemporary society, as well as the relationships between people, space, and landscape. His moving image works engage with visual ethnography, memory—both personal and collective—and the narratives embedded in landscapes and human activities. With a background in civil engineering and curatorial work, he approaches image-making with a sensitivity to the human condition and a critical awareness of the politics of looking. |

In 1967, during the peak of the societal upheaval in China, an ancient pagoda in my hometown was demolished under the banner of political ideology. My father witnessed the entire event, and I recently revisited the site in his memory.
